The IFA or Internationale Funkausstellung Berlin, the world's most significant trade show for consumer electronics and home appliances, will not be held in the format that everyone is used to this year.

"IFA Berlin is set to go ahead in 2020, but with an innovative new concept, following the decision by the Berlin government to ban all events with more than 5,000 participants until Oct. 24, 2020," said a press release on its official website on April 21.

The exhibition was first held in 1924. During the World War II and in the post-war period (1940-1949), it was not carried out. From 1950, it was held every other year until 2005. Since then, it has become an annual event again, held in September.
