5, Benny Chan molests Rose Chan
The 19-year-old actress Rose Chan and co-stars Benny Chan and Joe Ma were wrapping up filming in Zhejiang Province in November, when it is alleged the two Hong Kong actors got drunk and molested Rose Chan after forcing themselves on her.
Naturally, Benny Chan and Ma denied any inappropriate behavior, but, unfortunately for them, there was plenty of photo evidence of their oafish horseplay featuring a clearly distressed Rose Chan.
Hong Kong's celebrity circle unanimously came out in support of Rose Chan. Director Wong Jing opined that Benny Chan was like "one of those lecherous guys who molest girls on the bus".
Both Benny Chan and Ma apologized for their actions. Ma stated that his actions has been misinterpreted and that he was actually "comforting" Rose. He also expressed regret that he had been unable to stop Benny. Rose Chan's master, Xian Guo-lin, subsequently decided to take no action against Ma, but threatened to file a formal police complaint against Benny.
It was not until Benny Chan had cried publicly and expressed his regret at a number of press conferences, published apologies in newspapers, and promised to donate money to charity that Xian and Rose forgave him as a result of his "sincere apologies."
