7-10, President of the Republic of Korea Roh Moo Hyun makes a state visit to China. In their meetings, leaders of both countries exchanged views on a wide range of issues, including bilateral relations and regional and global situation. In a joint declaration, the two countries committed themselves to an all-round partnership geared to the future, which is established on the basis of the UN Charter, the joint communique on the establishment of bilateral diplomatic relations and their existing partnership of cooperation.

20-22, At the invitation of Premier Wen Jiabao, British Prime Minister Tony Blair conducts an official visit to China. This is the second China trip of the prime minister since he took the office and the first since he was reelected in 2001. During his stay in Beijing, Blair met with President Hu Jintao and held talks with Premier Wen.

21, An earthquake measuring 6.2 on the Richter scale strikes Dayao County, Yunnan Province in southwest China. By 1:20 p.m. of July 22, 15 people had been killed and more than 390 others injured in the accident.
