Guangdong's GDP in 2011 was 5.27 trillion yuan (US$815.94 billion), a 10 percent increase over 2010. It had been the bellwether in this respect for the third consecutive year in China. The province was the first in the country to have its GDP surpass 5 trillion yuan (US$774.14 billion), which accounted for about 11 percent of the national total. Its GDP per capita rose from 44,736 yuan (US$6,608) to 50,141 yuan (US$7,763) in 2011, ranking eighth in the country. In 2011, the province registered 26,897 yuan (US$4,164) in per capita disposable income for urban households and 9,372 yuan (US$1,451) in per capita net income for rural households, an increase of 12.6 percent and 18.8 percent respectively. Its GDP in 2011 exceeded that of Netherlands in 2010 at US$783.41 billion.
