The Siku Quanshu (Complete Works of the Chinese Classics), first compiled in the 18th century, is the most comprehensive encyclopedia of Chinese thought and culture. With only seven copies originally made, many sections have been lost over the years. Now, three publishing houses are working on separate editions of the massive collection to be issued in limited quantities over a three-year period. |

Hainan Suffers Serious Drought

Hainan Province's anti-drought department warned this week that the drought in the island has reached a serious level. The drought has lasted since the beginning of this year and more than 45 percent of the island's farmland and 64 middle and small rivers have dried up.
