Painted bed

This painted bed was excavated from the Warring States ship coffin near Chengdu Commercial Street and is now in the custody of the Chengdu Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology. This, the largest ship coffin found, and hundreds of exquisite unearthed lacquerware, provide extremely important materials for the study of the ancient Shu civilization. When the painted bed was found, there were 45 components, some of which were stolen or spoiled, and very fragile. After a process of cleaning and disinfection, reinforcement and dehydration, drying and setting, the earliest known example and most complete and complex painted bed has now been restored.
