The No. M16-2 chariot unearthed at Majiayuan Cemetery of the Warring-States Period in Zhangjiachuan County, Gansu province, is now preserved in the Gansu Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology. Chariots (cheyu) reflected the highest level of ancient machinery manufacturing technology in ancient China. Since 2006, a large number of chariots have been unearthed from the Warring-States cemetery in Majiayuan, which provides archaeological evidence for the study of the development and evolution of ancient Chinese vehicles and their restoration and reproduction techniques. Based on the concepts of field archaeological excavation, physical anatomy, relics protection, comprehensive information extraction, scientific and technological detection and analysis, analog-digital restoration, traditional technology research, restoration and reproduction, and the integration of display and utilization, a complete restoration and reproduction process system of ancient vehicles has been established to fully present the cultural, historical, scientific and technological, and artistic value of ancient Chinese vehicles.
